The Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) is seeking government support as it looks to resolve issues surrounding high, multiple and differential taxation of the Indian amusements industry at state-level.

The growth of amusement parks will help improving the flow of tourists, which will result in increased tax revenues to the state government concerned, IAAPI said this week.

"The industry should be accorded 'social infrastructure' status," said Santokh Chawla, president of the association and managing director of Polo Amusement Park.

According to Chawla, the amusement parks industry has been "growing exponentially" over the last few years."
