Dreamland secures project director
The UK's Dreamland Trust has announced the appointment of Jonathan Bryant as project director.
Bryant will spearhead the implementation of the world's first 'historic amusement park' at Dreamland Margate, Kent, following the award of grant funding from Heritage Lottery and the government's Sea Change programme.
The future of Britain's oldest surviving rollercoaster, a scenic railway ride in Margate, was safeguarded last month after the Dreamland Trust was handed GBP3.7m.
In addition to ensuring the Grade II-listed roller coaster will be restored to its former glory, the funding was allocated to allow the creation of the world's first amusement park exclusively comprised of historic rides.
Commenting on his appointment, Bryant, who has a long history in the heritage and leisure sectors, said: "I am inspired by all that The Dreamland Trust and its partners have achieved to date and am looking forward to bringing Dreamland back to life as a firm family favourite for the 21st century."
